SDMA & Chronic Kidney disease.


It is estimated that 1 in 3 cats will develop some sort of kidney disease.  Recently, a new, more sensitive kidney blood test has become available to help detect and treat kidney disease in cats.  The traditional creatinine blood test only became elevated when 75% of both kidneys were not working.  The new SDMA test becomes elevated when 40% of both kidneys are not working, making it a much more sensitive test to help detect kidney disease in cats earlier.  At Cats Only Veterinary Hospital, every blood panel includes the SDMA test to help screen for kidney disease whether it be for pre-anesthetic labs or routine patient trending.  Please visit the links to learn more:
